Dr. Dhani Ram Baruah, a visionary Cardiac Surgeon, Scientist, and Genetic Engineer, hails from Jagiyal, Nowgaon, Assam, India. His journey began at Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, where he graduated and embarked on a remarkable path. Achieving Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons & Physicians in Cardiac Surgery in 1978 in Glasgow, Scotland, he became a pioneer in his field.
With roots in the Republic of Ireland, he honed his surgical skills, becoming a master in Cardiac Surgery. Over the years, Dr. Baruah has performed numerous intricate surgeries, including countless bypass procedures. His contributions extend beyond the operating room, delving into groundbreaking areas like genetic engineering.
Notably, Dr. Baruah's ingenuity led to the invention of Baruah siRNA, a biological weapon derived from edible medicinal plants of Himalayan region. This innovation holds promise for combating diseases such as Cancer and HIV, with Twelve Baruah combat Genes arising from siRNA treatment now applied for patent.
In 1996, he established the pioneering Dr. Dhani Ram Baruah Heart Institute & Research Centre, the North-East's first open-heart surgery center.
